Missing my Dad

For the last couple of days I have been looking through some old pictures my Mom let me borrow of the time my Dad was in the service...I am making her an album with all his awards, pictures, and places that he was stationed at, very much like the one that Teresa made her dad for Christmas. As I go through the pictures and read the captions my dad wrote on some of the pictures... I am learning more about his life... I wish now I would have picked his brain when he was here... so he could tell me about each picture. I am having so much fun getting all this info together , but it makes me really miss him.... Miss you Dad

Yard work

Yesterday Joe & I worked outside all day in the yard... It was the first time he mowed.. needed it very much so...He started with the grandma Jeans yard next door... he always does hers first.. she is 77..then ours...I started cleaning the flower beds.. I really enjoy doing it..never thought I would, but I do..but today I am paying for it... I can hardly move..but I'm going back out... I need to fill my new flower pots with good potting soil and get my hanging baskets ready... Joe wants color not just green..Just thought I would share

Some of my spring flowers

Lawn mowed for the first time this year and all the weeds and leaves cleaned out from winter

After cleaning the flower beds all day

This is the rose bush starter that I started last year... from grandma Gay's bush... It's out of control already..

My snow on the mountain mom gave me years ago so I brought some with me when I moved..

These are just picking out of the ground... lily of the valley..

Wish my tulips would last all summer

This plant is just peeking out of the ground.. Mom gave it to me last year...Hydrangia

This rose bush is a starter that Connie gave me as a house warming present when we moved in here along with , with some spending mony ..so I bought a trillis for it to climb on... it was from Great Grandma Gay's farm... I also stared a second one... and gave two away to friends..

Happy Easter!!!!!

Happy Easter everyone!!!!!!!! Just remembering a couple of things from when I was a child... we always got new easter dresses.. one time Grandma D even got Connie & I Spring coats to wear... the boys got suits and hats to wear.. I thought I had a picture of that , but I don't. We always went to church, then had a big Ham dinner afterwards. I also remember , we would go to a Good Friday Service on Friday... all the stores would close for two hours in Midland so people could go to their church for Good Friday Service.. Lots of good memories... If you have been to my house or watched my BLOG at all you know I love to decorate my house for the holidays... and now that I have a nice yard I love to decorate outside.... We all know it's not about Easter baskets, decorating and Good Easter Ham.. It's about his death and that he rose from the grave ... FOR US... We are so busy sometimes at work and at play getting ready... but we need to stop for a minute and remember what he did for us...
